T- Thoughts
“Working hard for something we don’t care about is called stress: Working hard for something we love is called passion.” – Simon Sinek
When I first started my land business I worked really hard. As a man possessed. I had a young baby at home, a stay-at-home mom, and felt tremendous pressure to provide.
I would wake up at 5:00 AM work in my land business for 90 minutes, grab a bar or protein shake be stressed during my 45-minute commute in traffic, and start working at my investment banking job.
All during my work I would check emails, respond to buyers and sellers and instead of eating lunch out just continue working my land business.
I would then get home, rock my fussy baby son under the oven vent (he liked the white noise), have a drink to relax, and then eat dinner.
After dinner, I would spend an hour with my wife and then work in the business until 11:00 typically about 2-3 hours more.
I worked early mornings, late nights, and weekends. I was passionate about how the land business could provide a better life for my family and I saw a way out of my soulless corporate job.
It took my mentor Ori to show me a smarter better way to work and transition to working on instead of in the business with people and systems and eventually software with Scott Todd’s help.
If you feel like working your land business and managing your life is stressful and not a passion here’s my advice.
#1. Make sure you have a big purpose that’s bigger than just you.
#2. Give yourself a hard stop. For example, if I haven’t created a passive income land investing machine in 36 months and I’ve honestly done my very best it’s time to find something that resonates with me more.
If you want to feel happy, do something for yourself. If you want to feel fulfilled, do something for someone else.” – Simon Sinek
